The Stonebridge Ranch Beach Club is still a construction site this fall. Crews are working on underground utilities, pool infrastructure and a new restroom building, and the Community Room next door is closed off inside the work zone.
A few miles away at 7501 Coronado Drive, the HOA calendar is full from now until mid-December. Almost every community event listed for the rest of 2026 is at one address: Stonebridge Plaza and the Aquatic Center next to it. That includes the Halloween zip line, the Thanksgiving week games and the tree lighting.
The HOA says it designed the new Beach Club to be "more than just a pool," a year-round place for residents to gather. Until it opens, the Plaza is doing that job.
Why the Calendar Points to Coronado This Year
The Beach Club renovation broke ground in spring. The HOA's August 28 update said the main pool shell was finished and the children's pool was being excavated. The October 9 update has crews still on utilities, pool infrastructure, the restroom building and prep for the children's pool. Pool finishes, building work and site work are all still ahead.
The Beach Club won't be ready for any part of the fall or holiday calendar on that schedule. The HOA's amenities page also says the Community Room near the Beach Club can't be used because it sits inside the construction zone. So the seasonal events are at the Plaza, and the online events calendar lists 7501 Coronado Dr. for nearly all of its upcoming entries.
The HOA's fall season opened with the September 19 Harvest Moon Festival. Its recap described live country music, two-stepping, hayrides and barbecue. Residents voted for the October movie night, and Hocus Pocus won with 29 votes, ahead of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. It played at the Plaza on October 9.
Spooktacular Is the Biggest Night on the Plaza
Spooktacular is Friday, October 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. It's the most heavily programmed night on the fall calendar. Here's what the HOA has announced:
- A mobile zip line. It's 35 feet high and runs about 180 feet. The HOA says it's for children 7 and older, and the operator may have other safety requirements.
- The Maze of Terror. It's pitch black inside, and the HOA tells guests to bring their phone flashlight.
- Airbrush tattoos to go with costumes.
- Trunk-or-treat in the Aquatic Center parking lot.
- Food, drinks and inflatables for the rest of the evening.
Local businesses decorate cars or set up booths in the trunk-or-treat zone, which takes over part of the Plaza lot. The HOA put out a registration form for vendors who want to hand out candy.
October has two more things on the calendar. The HOA is running a Haunted House Contest and a Halloween Costume Contest, with entries submitted as photos. Winners get a grand prize and will be featured in the November issue of the Stonebridge Ranch magazine. Then on Sunday, October 25, Smo's Donut Sunday runs at the Plaza from 8 to 11 a.m.
November and December Use the Same Plaza
Smo's Donut Sundays come back each month through the end of the year, so the calendar has a steady weekend rhythm even with the Beach Club closed. The HOA's online calendar doesn't print a year on its listings, and the weekdays below are ours. Read as this year's dates, the November and December entries look like this:
- Thursday, Nov. 5, 1–3 p.m.: Fall Crafts at the Plaza. The calendar showed 70 spots left when we checked.
- Saturday, Nov. 14, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.: Fall Farmers Market at the Plaza.
- Sunday, Nov. 15, 8–11 a.m.: Smo's Donut Sunday.
- Saturday, Nov. 21, 10 a.m.–noon: Turkey Trot 5K & Silly Fun Run, starting at the Aquatic Center.
- Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 23–24, noon–2 p.m.: Turkey Games Day 1 and Day 2 at the Plaza, with RSVPs already coming in.
- Thursday, Dec. 3, 5:30–8 p.m.: Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Plaza.
- Friday, Dec. 11, 5:30–8 p.m.: Sip & Shop at the Plaza.
- Sunday, Dec. 13, 8–11 a.m.: Smo's Donut Sunday.
- Thursday, Dec. 17, 3 p.m.: Story Time with Mrs. Claus at the Plaza.
Not everything is on Coronado. The same calendar lists the TCD Ladies Doubles League under Stonebridge Beach and Tennis Aces on November 5 and November 26.
The holiday events are bunched up. Three December events land within about two weeks of each other, and all three are at the same Plaza that hosts the October zip line and the November farmers market. The big seasonal events, from Spooktacular through Story Time with Mrs. Claus, all happen on one site.
What the Plaza Holds Once Lap Swim Ends
The HOA listed the Aquatic Center's 2026 lap-swim season as May 4 through September 30. The Aquatic Center has a junior-Olympic pool and a kiddie pool. None of the fall or holiday listings on the HOA calendar are swim events, so the Plaza's other amenities carry the season. The HOA lists:
- A toddler playground and a splash pad
- A ropes course
- Pickleball courts and a basketball hoop
- A pavilion and a dry-deck fountain
That mix explains how one site can host a donut morning, a craft afternoon and a tree lighting a few weeks apart. The pavilion gives events cover, and the playground, splash pad and ropes course give younger kids something to do around the scheduled activities.
The Beach Club Is Being Built for This Same Role
The current season is a stand-in because the new Beach Club is meant to do the same thing year-round. The HOA describes the finished project like this:
"Designed as more than just a pool, the future Beach Club will serve as a year-round gathering place for residents and families to relax, connect, and make lasting memories together through expanded recreational and gathering spaces (fire pits, playground, picnic areas, pavilion, enhanced veranda, etc.)."
The October 9 update says the playground equipment has been ordered. It also confirms the plan includes a children's pool along with the bigger aquatic and site work.
The HOA has given the timeline in two slightly different ways, so it's fair to call it a target. The August 28 construction update said "substantial completion in spring 2027," with commissioning, inspections, punch-list work and turnover after that. The Beach Club project page, updated October 2, names a Memorial Day Weekend 2027 grand opening. Those two fit together. Substantial completion in spring would be followed by a few weeks of inspections and turnover before opening day.
The HOA posts construction progress, photos and announcements on its Beach Club page. If the schedule holds, next year's fall and holiday calendar could be split between two sites instead of packed onto one.
New Places to Eat Near the Plaza
Some of the restaurants and cafes that opened in west McKinney this year are easy to pair with a Plaza event.
Mom's Iron Wok opened in late April at 2741 Virginia Parkway, Suite 500. It serves Sichuan and Chinese-American dishes, according to Community Impact.
JAC's Burger Co. opened August 20 at 6840 Virginia Parkway, Suite 100, in the space that used to be JC's Burger House. Community Impact's roundup of new McKinney restaurants has the details.
Arwa Yemeni Coffee is scheduled to open October 16 at 1935 Prestwick Hollow Drive, Suite 900, according to Community Impact. That's the same night as Spooktacular. The menu includes traditional Yemeni coffee and tea, including Sanaani coffee, Qishr, Mofawer, Jubani and Adeni tea, plus house drinks like a date matcha latte and a sand dune latte. Opening dates often slip, so check before you go that weekend.
